Daharsh was born in New York on February 28, 1849. He was mustered in the regiment on January 31, 1865. Daharsh served about 8 months. He was discharged on September 18, 1865 at Columbus, Ohio.
The 186th Ohio Infantry was organized at Camp Chase, Ohio in February 1865. It was assigned to duty in Tennessee and Georgia during the War. The regiment was mustered out on September 25, 1865.
Daharsh died on January 11, 1930 at the age of 80 years. He is buried in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Indianola (Red Willow County), Nebraska. Daharsh was a member of the Indianola Post (#154) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Indianola.
