Dreiblepice was born in Pennsylvania in 1845. He was residing in Montour County, Pennsylvania when he enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on November 1, 1862. He served 9 months and was discharged on July 27, 1863.
The 178th Pennsylvania Infantry was organized at Harrisburg between October 22 and November 27, 1862. The unit was assigned to duty at Newport News and Yorktown, Virginia until July 8, 1863.
Dreiblepice died on June 5, 1940 at the age of 95 years. He is buried in the Kearney Cemetery in Kearney (Buffalo County), Nebraska. Dreiblepice was a member of the Sedgwick Post (#1) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Kearney.
