Private Abel Easterbrook
Company G, 142nd Illinois Infantry (100 days, 1864)
Easterbrook (also spelled Eastabrook/Eastabrooks) was born in Milledgeville (Carroll County), Illinois on March 28, 1848. He was residing in Wysox (Carroll County), Illinois when he enlisted in the regiment on May 15, 1864. He was mustered on June 18, 1864. Easterbrook served about 4 months before being discharged on October 26, 1864.
The 142nd Illinois Infantry was organized and mustered for 100 days on June 18, 1864. It was assigned to Tennessee and performed guard duty on the Memphis and Charleston Railroad.
Easterbrook died on February 4, 1937 at the age of 88 years. He is buried in the Wolbach Cemetery in Wolbach (Greeley County), Nebraska.
