Company B, 10th Indiana Cavalry

Bell was born in Indiana on January 9, 1847. He enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on January 8, 1864. Bell was 16 years old years and served as a bugler. He served about 20 months and was discharged on August 31, 1865 at Vicksburg, Mississippi.

The 10th Indiana Cavalry was organized in several Indiana cities between December 30, 1863 and April 30, 1864. The regiment fought at the Battle of Nashville (TN) (December 15-16, 1864) and was assigned to the Siege of Spanish Fort and Fort Blakely (AL) (March 26-April 9, 1865).

Bell died on May 5, 1932 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln (Lancaster County), Nebraska. Bell was a member of the Farragut Post (#25) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Lincoln.
