Private George Kenison
Company E, 44th Iowa Infantry (100 days, 1864)
Kenison (also spelled Kennison) was born in New York on June 5, 1842. He was living in Butler County, Iowa when he enlisted on May 16, 1864. Kenison was mustered on July 1, 1864 and served about 100 days. He was discharged on September 15, 1864 at Davenport, Iowa.
The 44th Iowa Infantry was organized and mustered at Davenport on June 1, 1864. The unit was enlisted for 100 days of service and assigned to the Memphis area.
Kenison died on February 24, 1933 at the age of 90 years. He is buried in the Antelope Valley Cemetery in Oshkosh (Garden County), Nebraska. Kenison was a member of the Gavitt Post (#299) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Kearney, Nebraska.
