Moore was born May 10, 1847. He was residing in Elkhart (Logan County), Illinois when he enlisted in the regiment on May 5, 1864. Moore was mustered on June 9, 1864. He was 17 years old on his muster date. He served about 3 ½ months before his discharge on September 23, 1864 at Springfield, Illinois.
The 145th Illinois Infantry was organized and mustered at Camp Butler for 100 days on June 9, 1864. The unit was ordered to St Louis and was assigned to duties in that area until it was mustered out in September 1864.
Moore died on June 20, 1933 at the age of 86 years. He is buried in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Blue Springs (Gage County), Nebraska.
