Company I, 34th Iowa Infantry
Schee was born in Harrison County, Ohio in February of 1845. He was residing in Johnson County, Iowa when he enlisted in the regiment on March 31, 1864. Schee was mustered on April 14, 1864 and served about 16 months with 2 units. He transferred to the 34th Iowa Infantry on July 12, 1865 and served an additional month. Schee was discharged on August 15, 1865.
Schee joined the 33rd Iowa Infantry in the latter stages of the Civil War. His regiment was involved in the Battle of Jenkins Ferry (AR) on April 30, 1864. Regimental losses were 7 killed, 114 wounded, and 61 captured. In addition, the regiment was engaged in the Siege of Spanish Fort and Fort Blakely (AL) from March 26 to April 8, 1865.
He died on October 19, 1934 at the age of 89 years. He is buried in the College View Cemetery in Lincoln (Lancaster County), Nebraska. Schee was a member of the Farragut Post (#25) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Lincoln.
