Private Alfred Snell

Snell was born February 20, 1846. He enlisted in the regiment on August 22, 1863 and was mustered on January 4, 1864 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. Snell served about 18 months before transferring to the 130th Illinois Infantry on July 7, 1865. Information related to Snell’s length of enlistment and discharge date from the 130th Illinois Infantry was not available.
During Snell’s enlistment, the regiment was part of the Red River Campaign (LA) (March 10-May 22, 1864) and the Siege of Fort Blakley (AL) (March 26-April 8, 1865).
Snell died on November 14, 1931 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the Page Cemetery in Page (Holt County), Nebraska.
