Company I, 155th Indiana Infantry
Vanderhoof was born in St Joseph County, Indiana on September 15, 1848. The 16 year old enlisted and mustered on March 15, 1865. Vanderhoof served a little less than 5 months. He was discharged on August 4, 1865 at Dover, Delaware.
The 155th Indiana Infantry was organized at Indianapolis on April 18, 1865. The regiment was assigned to duties in Delaware and Maryland before being discharged on August 4, 1865.
Vanderhoof died on September 11, 1936 at the age of 88 years. He is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in St Edward (Boone County), Nebraska. Vanderhoof was a member of the Kinsman Post (#140) of the Grand Army of the Republic in St Edward.
