Private John D Ridenour

John D Ridenour was born in Ohio on March 22, 1846. He was living in Cedar County, Iowa when he enlisted on May 19, 1864. Ridenour was mustered in on June 1, 1864. He served about 3 ½ months before being mustered out on September 15, 1864 at Davenport, Iowa.
The 44th Ohio Infantry was organized for 100 days of service on June 1, 1864 at Davenport, Iowa. The unit was sent to Memphis, Tennessee and performed guard duty.
Ridenour died on February 10, 1929 at the age of 81 years. He is buried in the Armada Cemetery in Miller (Buffalo County), Nebraska. He was the last member of the Jewett Post (#228) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Miller.
