Private Oscar F Roberts
Company I, 138th New York Infantry
Roberts was born in New York State on November 13, 1832. Civil War records for Roberts are very sketchy. Two sources indicate that he served in the 138th New York Infantry. The unit was converted to the 9th New York Heavy Artillery during the War. A review of the rosters of both units do not indicate that Roberts served in either regiment. The Sons of the Union Veterans website indicates that Roberts served about 3 years with the 2 regiments.
Roberts died on September 29, 1924 at the age of 91 years. He is buried in the Industry Cemetery in Holdrege (Phelps County), Nebraska. He was the last member of the Pratt Post (#334) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Atlanta, Nebraska.
