Private Hibbard D Woodard

Company F, 141st Illinois Infantry (100 days, 1864)

Woodard was born in Cussewago (Crawford County), Illinois in 1846. Nebraska Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) records spell his name Hubbard Woodward. He was residing in Marengo (McHenry County), Illinois when he enlisted in the regiment on May 6, 1864. Woodard was mustered in June 16, 1864 and served about 4 months. He was discharged on October 10, 1864 at Chicago.

The 141st Illinois Infantry was organized at Elgin, Illinois for 100 days on June 16, 1864. It was assigned to Columbus, Kentucky and performed garrison duty until October 1864. The regiment was mustered out on October 10, 1864.

Woodard died on May 29, 1943 at the age of 97 years. He is buried in the Malcolm Cemetery in Malcolm (Lancaster County), Nebraska. He was a charter member of the Mitchell Post (#38) of the GAR in Waverly, Nebraska.
