Hunt was on August 1, 1834. He enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on September 20, 1864. Hunt served about 8 months before being mustered out on June 2, 1865.
Hunt joined the regiment during the Siege of Petersburg (VA) (June 1864 to April 1865). In addition, the unit was involved in several major battles and military operations. Some of them include:
Battle of Fort Stedman (VA) (March 25, 1865).
Appomattox Campaign (VA) (March 28-April 9, 1865).
Fall of Petersburg (VA) (April 2, 1865).
Grand Review of the Troops (Washington DC) (May 23, 1865).
Hunt died on February 9, 1899. He is buried in the Rosehill Cemetery in Douglas (Otoe County), Nebraska. He was a charter member of the Curtin Post (#336) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Douglas.
