Company G, 27th Illinois Infantry

Willets (also spelled Willits) was born in Columbia County, Pennsylvania on July 18, 1839. He was living in Mercer County, Illinois when he enlisted and was mustered on November 6, 1861. Willetts served about 6 months and was discharged on May 22, 1862 for disability.

Willetts died on January 28, 1928. He is buried in the Polk Cemetery in Polk (Polk County), Nebraska. He was a charter member and the last member of the Thornburg Post (#27) of the Grand Army of the Republic in Clarks, Nebraska.
