Morehouse (also spelled Moorhouse) was born May 3, 1841. He was living in Goshen (Elkhart County), Indiana when he enlisted and was mustered in the regiment on September 5, 1861. Morehouse served 15 months and was discharged on December 3, 1862 due to disability.
Morehouse died on November 9, 1883 at the age of 42 years. He is buried in the Andrew Cemetery in Friend (Saline County), Nebraska. The Morehouse Post (#188) of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in Tobias, Nebraska is named for him. Morehouse was a charter member of the Lookout Mountain Post (#127) of the GAR in Saxon, Nebraska. The Post was moved from Saxon to Friend in 1890. In addition, he was a member of the Stacey Post (#130) of the GAR in Friend, Nebraska.
