Western Michigan University’s Hyames Field was considered one of the finest fields in the country.

Future president George H.W. Bush took part in the series. Bush scored once.

Cal scored 11 times in the ninth inning of game one of the championship series.

John Fiscalini went 4 for 5 in the title game, with three runs scored.

Lyle Palmer, a center fielder, went 5 for 7 in the tournament as Cal swept Yale 17-4 and 8-7.
