Crete, Neb., Nov. 18 — About 700 people witnessed the defeat of the Doane College foot ball team this afternoon by the lopsided score of 24 to 0. The eleven young men who accomplished this feat hailed from the State university of Nebraska. They were accomanied by 200 students and friends from Lincoln, who witnessed the recovery of the state championship to the university with great delight. Coach C.L. Thomas of the university team served as referee. Lieutenant Smith of Baker was umpired and Lieutenant Hardin of Doane college lineman.
Doane got the choice of goals and secured the advantage of the wind in the kick off. The ball went up and down the field with no special advantage until by a series of successful line bucks Nebraska brought it within six yards of Doane's goal and then it was carried over for a touchdown. Shedd missed an easy goal and neither side was able to score again in the half, which ended with the ball in the center of the field. Score 4 to 0.
In the second half Nebraska scored a touchdown in ten minutes, then a safety and two more touchdowns. When time was called Nebraska had 24 points and Doane 0.
Nebraska is 16-2 all-time against Doane.
