Drake team bites dust

Lincoln Neb., Oct. 20 — The football team of the University of Nebraska defeated the Drake university team of Des Moines in a game at Lincoln this afternoon by a score of 8 to 0. While the crowd which witnessed the game was considered by the managers not what it should have been so that the coming game between Nebraska and Grinnell has been transferred to Omaha.

Both teams played in excellent form, each cheered on by a lusty lunged contingent of rooters. Drake won the toss, and Raymond kicked off to Drake's forty-yard line. From the first to the very last the first half was fast and furious/ From their forty-yard line Drake pushed Nebraska slowly back until the ball hung wavering withing three yards of Nebraska's goal line, where it remained until the calling of time.

Withe the ball well within Drake's territory McFerrin of the Iowa team made the longest and most sensational run of the day, dodging around Nebraska's end and making thirty yards before he was stopped. Score 0 to 0.

In the second half the wind, which had before aided Drake, helped Nebraska. Steadily, by fierce and irresistible line bucking, the home team forced the ball steadily down the field until it rested on Drake's four-yard line, and Crandall was shoved over the right tackle for a touchdown, the first score being made by Nebraska in a little over four minutes. Ringer kicked an easy goal and the score stood 6 to 0. The Nebraskans were jubilant.

In the remaining time to be played Drake seemed to go somewhat to pieces an Nebraska scored a safety.
