Nebraska recruited a big Texas high school back in its 2013 class with Adam Taylor. The 2014 class will have a Lone Star running at the other end of the spectrum.

Larenzo Stewart, a 5-foot-6, 165-pounder out of Klein (Texas) Oak High School, committed to NU on July 5, 2013.

He’s a three-star prospect according to all four major recruiting services. He rushed for 2,345 yards and 21 touchdowns prior to his senior year at Klein Oak, and finished fifth in the 100-meter dash at the Texas 5A State Championships. Stewart’s fastest 100-meter time in 2013 was 10.45 seconds, which is .04 seconds off state record in Nebraska, held by Papillion-La Vista's Kenzo Cotton.

“He’s as good a player as I’ve been around," Klein Oak coach David Smith said. "Tremendous power. Great stride. He’s got those big knee lifts.”

Stewart had offers from Baylor, Louisiana Tech and Houston, all high-powered, no-huddle attacks.
