Jeremiah Hawkins stood by his commitment to Cal on Wednesday and signed with the Golden Bears.
Nebraska had pushed for the wide receiver from California over the last couple months of the recruiting cycle. The Huskers hosted him on an official visit in January, and he mentioned Nebraska as a possible destination in interviews leading up to signing day.
Hawkins had been committed to Cal since May 2016, but after the coaching change there, he started entertaining other options. Nebraska, which extended him a scholarship offer in the summer of 2015, never stopped recruiting him throughout his commitment to Cal, and that kept the Huskers in the hunt.
But it wouldn’t be enough, as Hawkins reaffirmed his pledge to Cal on national signing day.
These are the players who built Nebraska football.
