Ben Hutch received an offer from the Huskers on May 17, 2016.

Hutch began getting recruited the spring before his sophomore year when he received offers from Ole Miss and Tennessee. By May 2016 he had a double-digit offer list. Other SEC schools like Missouri and Texas A&M offered him around the same time as Nebraska.

During this past spring, Hutch took visits to Texas A&M and Louisville. In the past, he's also visited Tennessee, Memphis, Missouri, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

On July 13, Hutch released a top six that included Nebraska. Also on the list were: Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, Penn State, and Texas A&M.

Hutch took an official visit to Penn State on Oct. 8.

On Oct. 16, Hutch released a top three that did not include Nebraska. The three teams that made the cut were Louisville, Penn State and Texas A&M.

Hutch committed to Louisville on Dec. 6.

Hutch had 40 tackles, including 12 for loss and three sacks, as a junior in 2015.
