Andrew Van Ginkel received an offer from the Huskers on June 11, 2016.
That offer came after Van Ginkel made an unofficial visit to Lincoln. According to Rivals, the Huskers are one of three schools he is still considering.
Van Ginkel narrowed his list to Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin.
He made his commitment to the Badgers on Nov. 1.
Van Ginkel transferred to Iowa Western after spending two seasons at South Dakota. He started all 11 games for USD in 2015 as a redshirt freshman, accumulating 56 tackles, including 18 for loss with nine sacks. He also had six quarterback hurries, forced two fumbles, recovered three more and blocked a kick.
That earned him first team All-Missouri Valley honors and conference Freshman of the Year recognition.
Van Ginkel was an All-State selection coming out of Rock Valley High School in Iowa.
He will have two years of eligibility remaining when he finds a new school for the 2017 season.
At Iowa Western, he teamed up with the son of Nebraska defensive line coach John Parrella.
These are the players who built Nebraska football.
