Ben Lingenfelter will join the Husker program as a preferred walk-on in 2017 after a high school career at Washington High School in Cherokee, Iowa.
The Huskers extended him an offer to walk on while Lingenfelter was on campus attending the Minnesota game on Nov. 12. Lingenfelter announced on Dec. 12 that he had accepted that offer.
He is a Husker legacy with several family members that played for Nebraska, including his brother Luke, cousin Newton and uncle Bob.
Lingenfelter had scholarship offers from Tulane, South Dakota and Northern Iowa, but instead chose to walk on at Nebraska.
