Daniel Carson received an offer from the Huskers on Feb. 14, 2017.
On March 10, NU recruiting staff member Todd McShane tweeted a picture of a letter being sent to Carson. It read: "Writing this in our recruiting meeting as we talk about you! Fired up to meet you at our spring game. Kansas City's best belong 2.5 hours away at Nebraska!"
That tweet gave the impression that Carson planned to attend NU's spring game on April 15, but he wasn't able to make it.
On May 23, Carson did include the Huskers in his top 11 with Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Iowa State, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas.
And a few weeks later he made his first visit to Nebraska. He attended the Huskers' Friday Night Lights camp on June 16. After the visit, he spoke highly of his time on the NU campus in an interview with Husker Online.
On Aug. 10, NU defensive line coach John Parrella tweeted about Carson, saying "Freedom, Carlos, Khalil, _____ !? Would love to add another KCMO War Daddy to the room!"
Carson remained a target of Nebraska's new coaching staff. NU running backs coach Ryan Held visited Carson at his school on Dec. 6. Then on Dec. 11, Carson had an in-home visit with Scott Frost, defensive coordinator Erik Chinander and defensive line coach Mike Dawson.
Carson took an official visit to Nebraska the weekend of Jan. 12. After the visit, he tweeted that "it's been real Lincoln."
But on Jan. 19, Carson announced he had committed to Texas.
Carson took an official visit to Texas on Sept. 9 and Miami on Dec. 9.
These are the players who built Nebraska football.
