James Cook received an offer from the Huskers on June 16, 2017.
He had been committed to Florida State since March 11, 2016, but he backed away from that pledge on July 4, 2017.
He is the younger brother of former Seminole running back Dalvin Cook.
He posted a SPARQ score of 100.23 at The Opening Regional in Miami in February 2017. That included a 4.71-second 40-yard dash, 4.26-second 20-yard shuttle, 38-foot kneeling powerball toss and 35.2-inch vertical jump.
