Lincoln Southwest long snapper Cameron Pieper announced on Oct. 14, 2017, his commitment to Nebraska as a preferred walk-on.
“My dad played at Nebraska and I have always wanted to play at Nebraska,” Pieper said. “They gave me a surreal opportunity and I accepted it.”
Pieper plays both sides of the ball for Lincoln Southwest but committed to NU as a long snapper. The senior was recruited by safeties/special teams coach Scott Booker and special teams graduate assistant Nick Smith.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Pieper will join Lincoln Southwest receiver Justin Holm as Husker preferred walk-ons next season.
“I have been playing football with him my whole life,” Pieper said. “Now I get to play college football with him. It is definitely a plus.”
Pieper chose Nebraska over walk-on offers to be a long snapper at Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State and Wyoming. Kansas State recruited him as a tight end as well.
These are the players who built Nebraska football.
