Tucson (Ariz.) Pima Community College defensive tackle Tony Fair is reopening his recruitment, he said Friday, after conversations with Nebraska about his grades.

Fair said he'd like to sign with the Huskers but NU wouldn't take his signature unless it was certain his academics are in order.

"Basically, they're not sure I'm going to make grades," Fair said. "They have to do what they have to do to make sure they're OK, because I know they're not trying to have another year like last year. I understand everything about that and I have no beef with the coaching staff."

Fair said he's certain he'll make grades and he talks to teachers daily to ensure he will. He plans to enroll at a four-year school in January if he can.

With less than two weeks before signing day, Fair said he's not sure where he'll visit, but he's informing colleges on social media Friday he's back on the market.

Fair said he liked everything about Nebraska, including the fan base. He did not visit campus after his commitment. He was supposed to be an option for Nebraska at nose tackle, where the Huskers have several players returning, including Carlos Davis and Damion Daniels. Daniels' older brother, Darrion, is reportedly transferring from Oklahoma State to Nebraska for his senior season, as well.
