The gurus say

Holds the No. 81 spot on the Texas Top 100 list, and is ranked as the No. 28 guard by and No. 47 by Named second-team All-Dallas/Fort Worth area by the Dallas Morning News.

About Ash

Two-year starter played guard as a junior before shifting to left tackle last season. Logged 37 pancakes while allowing just one sack in almost 300 passing attempts by Keller. Intangibles include good mobility and long arms, leaving open the possibility Nebraska could consider him at guard, center or tackle. A 3.8 student who had a wide range of offers, including Purdue, Vanderbilt, Washington State and Arizona, as well as a few Big 12 schools. Ash said when he was playing football as a pre-teen that his dad once joked: "Since you're always a lineman, you're going to go to Nebraska.

Our take

The weight (265) would make you think a redshirt season is in order, and Ash said NU coach Bo Pelini discussed just that notion during a late-January visit. The ability to do everything could give him future value similar to that of NU senior Jacob Hickman, who played guard and some tackle before settling at center last season as a junior.
