Creighton's all-time leading scorer

Missouri Valley Player of the Year

Consensus First-Team All-American

A historic player

Doug McDermott's list of accomplishments is long. Back-to-back high school basketball champion. First Creighton player named First-Team All-American by the Associated Press, USBWA, NABC and Lute Olson National Player of the Year award. The first sophomore in league history to be named MVC Player of the Year (an honor he's now won twice). Holds CU's single-season scoring record with 801 points and 307 field goals. And most recently, all-time leading scorer for the Bluejays.

From his career-high 44 points in a 2012 win at Bradley to the 2,129 points he's posted through the 2013 Valley tournament, McDermott's more than made an impact in his three seasons at Creighton University — he's set the mark.

As the Bluejays prepare for the 2013 NCAA tournament, questions still linger: Will Creighton's Arch Madness run fuel the team, or will some of the chinks in the armor fans saw in a mid-season slide reappear? Is this team a Sweet Sixteen contender? Will McDermott win the Naismith Player of the Year Award? Come 2013-14 season, will McDermott be on the floor for his senior season, or will he be living the NBA life?

But for McDermott, one thing remains clear. Regardless of what happens next, the forward who followed his dad to Creighton will go down as one of the school's — and perhaps the Valley's — best players ever.
