New host Rece Davis hopes to bring ESPN's 'College GameDay' to Lincoln

Rece Davis will be taking over as the host of ESPN's “College GameDay” show on Saturday mornings this fall. Davis replaces Chris Fowler, who has hosted the show for the past 25 years.

Sports Illustrated spoke to Davis about the future of the show:

Davis said one of the few college football sites he has yet to see in person is Nebraska. He hopes GameDay will make its way to Lincoln in the near future. “Hopefully Mike Riley will have the Cornhuskers strong enough to have us host in the next few years.”

Nebraska last hosted “College GameDay” in 2007, when the No. 14 Huskers hosted No. 1 USC. NU lost 49-31. Nebraska was last involved in a “GameDay” game in 2011, when No. 7 Wisconsin hosted the show and the No. 8 Huskers. NU, playing in its first conference game since joining the Big Ten, lost 48-17.
