Pair of NBA mock drafts peg Justin Patton as lottery pick

Creighton center Justin Patton is the top NBA prospect at his position, according to two mock drafts released this week.

Both ESPN's Chad Ford and the analysts at have Patton as the first center selected in their respective projections. ESPN has Patton going No. 13 to the Milwaukee Bucks, and DraftExpress has him at No. 12 to the Portland Trailblazers.

Ford writes that Patton has been "on a meteoric rise" while emerging as one of the nation's top big men.

"Although Patton isn't the type of player who will come in and dominate right away for the Bucks, he's the long-term building block they've been looking for in the middle," Ford writes. "He has tremendous upside and seems to just be scratching the surface on what he can do."

Patton ranks second on the team with an average of 13.7 points per game, and his 6.3 rebounds per game lead the No. 23 Bluejays. Creighton returns to action Saturday at DePaul.
