Every year, The World-Herald requests payroll data from several public agencies in Nebraska, mostly in the Omaha metro area, to publish on this website. Citizens can use this tool to inspect the salaries of employees at these agencies as they are posted.
Names have been withheld for employees making less than $50,000 a year — the median household income in Nebraska, roughly — to highlight employees with the biggest impact on payroll budgets.
Each pay record includes the employee's base salary plus other pay components such as overtime, longevity pay and uniform allowances. It does not include benefits or non-cash compensation. Some public agencies keep more detailed pay records than others.
