Cate Folsom

Position: Editorial page editor

What I do: I oversee the newspaper's opinion pages.

About me: I have been an editor and reporter for The World-Herald for more than 35 years and came to my current position after serving as the Metro-Regional Editor. Over the years, I have overseen every local and regional news beat. I have edited a number of award-winning reporting efforts, including the revelation of systemic sentencing miscalculations by Nebraska prisons, embedded coverage of Nebraska and Iowa troops in Afghanistan, the attempted recall of Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle and an examination of the Von Maur mass shooter. I'm an Omaha native and a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. My book, “Smoke the Donkey: A Marine’s Unlikely Friend,” was published in April 2016 by Potomac Books, an imprint of the University of Nebraska Press.
