Martha Stoddard

Position: Legislature/state issues reporter

What I do: Based in the Lincoln bureau, I cover the Nebraska Legislature, the governor, state agencies and state issues. My focus is on health and human services issues, education and the budget.

About me: Born to academics who believed in world and community involvement, I grew up largely in Lincoln. I earned a bachelor's degree in international development from Earlham College and a master's degree in journalism from UNL. Before newspapers, I worked at laundries, libraries and restaurants. My journalism career includes 18 years at the Lincoln Journal Star, covering health, K-12 education, higher education and state government. I joined the Omaha World-Herald in 2003. In other hours, I run marathons and mud runs, scoop poop at a no-kill cat shelter, knit and bake pies.
